Born in Alto Alentejo, and used to moving around the country since she was a child due to her father’s career, Maria is an expert at adapting to change.

She soon went to Lisbon to join the Portuguese Navy, as part of the third intake of women. A career in the military wasn’t one of her goals, but it afforded her a sense of camaraderie, hierarchy, a spirit of self-sacrifice and the opportunity to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Always seeking new challenges, she ended up swapping the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for a degree in Management, and this became the foundation for her career in the business world, in the natural gas and wind energy sectors.

Passionate about animals and with a restless nature, she calls herself a “collector” of journeys and manages her daily life between accounts and people.
